Target Audience: Forepersons, Supervisors or anyone that will be designated as the Silica Competent Person for their companies
Course Description: This course is designed to provide information and training needed to implement their company’s Exposure Control Plan as required by the OSHA Silica Health Standard for Construction, 29 CFR 1926.1153.
This course will cover the following topics:
Health Effects of Silica
Tasks with Silica Exposure
Silica Exposure Control
Competent Person Duties (Implementing the Exposure Control Plan)
At the end of this class each student will be able to:
List the Five Health Effects from Exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica
List the Tasks on Their Projects with Exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica
State What Controls Might Be Used on the Tools or Equipment
State What Medical Tests Will Be Done (On Whom & When)
List the Duties as They Relate to:
Implementing Exposure Control Plan
Students will need to bring a copy of their company’s Exposure Control Plan(s) to use and review during the course.
