Three researchers present findings on the way workers approach hazards and make (or reject) safe decisions. One presenter shows the results of a safety climate survey on a worksite three months after workers took the SmartMark Hazard Awareness 10-Hour program. A second presenter proposes a cognitive approach to construction safety and identifies new directions for accident prevention. A third uses a theory to assess worker response to (and recognition of) haz-ards, depending on the worker’s orientation to risk.
