How can we protect workers from hexchrome, a heavy metal released in welding fumes and present in portland cement? Get an overview of OSHA’s hexavalent chromium standard (emphasis on welding) and the OSHA/BCTD settlement agreement covering portland cement. Next, take in the results of hexchrome exposure during stainless steel welding with and without local exhaust ventilation. Recommendations for reducing exposures will be given.
